My name is Christophe Vidal and I’ve been going on holiday to the Pyrenees-Orientale since I was a child.

My earliest memories are filled with sunny days spent playing on the long beaches of Argelès-sur-Mer, paddling in the shallows, exploring rock pools, and gazing up at the Pyrenees rising dramatically behind the sea.

As I grew older, I started to appreciate the area in new ways—getting lost in the colourful markets, hiking the coastal paths towards Collioure or exploring the nearby Albera mountains and their timeless villages. It was then that I truly fell in love with this region’s rich blend of French and Catalan cultures, its varied landscapes and its relaxed Mediterranean rhythm.

As an adult, my interest deepened into the history, traditions, and hidden gems not just of Argelès-sur-Mer, but the entire Pyrénées-Orientales department from ancient Romanesque churches to family-run vineyards. What I noticed, however, was a lack of truly in-depth online resources dedicated to helping people explore this area in a meaningful way.

So, I decided to create this website—a guide built out of genuine curiosity and affection for the region. It’s a work-in-progress, written to help others discover the best of Argelès and its surroundings from the coast to the mountains.

Over time, I've had the chance to visit some of the area’s most welcoming hotels and meet the passionate people behind its restaurants, wineries, and cultural sites. Their stories are as much a part of the place as the scenery itself.
